Cults: Saying No Under Pressure

This 29-minute educational videotape describes the deception and pressure used to recruit members into cults and keep them there. It also provides advice on how to resist these tactics. The video is designed for young people, parents, educators, counselors, clergy, law enforcement officials, and others. The video was developed by AFF's International Cult Education Program (ICEP) and the InService Videotape Network of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and produced by Instructivision, Inc. Charlton Heston serves as the narrator. Scenes include:

Two ex-cult members describe their experiences.
A "typical" cult recruitment scene is reenacted and analyzed.
Louis Jolyon West, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, UCLA, and former director of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, provides insights into manipulative psychological techniques.
Counselors, a parent, a clergyman, and other experts share information and advice about avoiding cult involvement.
A therapist discusses the participation of young people in occult ritual practices.
Entertaining educator/mentalist/ magician Bob Fellows vividly illustrates how easily everyone can be fooled and manipulated
