Colleen Russell
Colleen Russell, licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist (MFC29249), specializes in cult
awareness and recovery, offering individual
consultations, psychotherapy sessions, and an
on-going support group for former cult members
in her Mill Valley office. She is also available
by phone. Having 20 years of clinical experience
with a broad client population at San Francisco
Bay Area agencies and in private practice
(including extensive work with those diagnosed
with severe mental illness), Colleen brings her
personal and professional training and education
to her work since she was involved through the
‘70’s in what she now regards as an Eastern,
New-Age cult. Other emphases in her practice
includes motherless women, loss and grief, and
post-traumatic stress. Earning a BA Degree in
Psychology with Honors from San Francisco State
University, Colleen also received a MA Degree in
Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy
University in Orinda, CA in 1987. She is a
clinical member of the California Association of
Marriage and Family Therapists and the Northern
California Group Psychotherapy Society. Further
