Ronald N. Loomis has
presented lectures and workshops about cults at over 100 colleges and
universities throughout the US and Canada for over 40 years. He is a
Past President of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI)
and has over 35 years of professional experience in college union and
student activities administration at 4 different institutions,
including Cornell University, where he served as Director of Unions
and Activities for 23 years. He is Conference Manager and Education
Liaison for the American Family Foundation (AFF) and a Past President
of the former authentic Cult Awareness Network (CAN). In 1999 he
served as a principle expert witness for the Legislative Task Force on
Cults in Maryland. In November, 2003, Mr. Loomis and two other US
experts visited China at the invitation of the China Anti Cult
Association. They presented lectures and participated in discussions
with Anti Cult Associations and communities in Beijing, Jinan and
Shanghai and in forums with students and faculty at Fudan and Peking
Universities. Mr. Loomis has been cited in numerous newspaper and
magazine articles about cults in such publications as The
New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Congressional
Quarterly, The Christian Science Monitor, The Toronto Sun and
Newsweek Magazine. He has also been interviewed on many radio and
television programs including the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC),
The Today Show at the request of NBC News, The Discovery
Channel, ABC Productions, and Current Affair. He is featured in
the AFF educational video, Cults, Saying No Under Pressure, and
he authored a chapter in the book Cults on Campus. He serves
as an expert advisor to The Roberts Group Parents Network, a support
group for families with loved ones in the Jim Roberts Cult.
