31, 1998 Philadelphia, PA
Bio:Rachel has Masters degrees in the fields of
Education, and Counseling Psychology. She is a licensed Marriage, Family and Child
Therapist.
Rachel has been working in the field of cult education and counseling for 10years. While
still living in Los Angeles, she offered assistance on the phone to individuals affected
by cults who called the Maynard Bernstein Resource Center on Cults (named after her
father), then provided counseling and facilitated a former cult member support group in
her capacity as the Coordinator of the Cult Clinic at Jewish Family Service. She was also
asked to run a number FOCUS support groups in the Los Angeles area.
After moving to New York, Rachel became the full-time therapist at the Cult Hotline and
Clinic of the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. She works there in four
different capacities: counseling individuals, couples, and families affected by cult
involvement, facilitating an ever-growing family support group for those who have
loved-ones in, or recently out of cults, coordinating the Speakers' Bureau and all
community education, and answering the hotline calls which come in from all over the
country.
Rachel has also spoken at, and moderated a panel for an American Family Foundation
conference.
