ICSA does NOT
maintain a list of "bad" groups or "cults."
We nonjudgmentally list groups on which
we have information.
Groups listed,
described, or referred to on ICSA's Web sites may be mainstream or
nonmainstream, controversial or noncontroversial, religious or
nonreligious, cult or not cult, harmful or benign.
We encourage
inquirers to consider a variety of opinions, negative and positive,
so that inquirers can make independent and informed judgments
pertinent to their particular concerns.

- AFF
- AFF supports people directly and indirectly affected by the cult phenomenon. To past and present members, as well as their families, we offer information on individual groups, education on recovery strategies, and counseling and support-group referrals.
Professionals -- lawyers, clergy, educators, business, and therapy -- count on us as a source for research, on-going publication, and professional referrals.
AFF Programs: AFF counters cults and their destructive tactics in three areas: Project Recovery, Project Alert, and Project Discover.
Project Recovery improves the quality of services for former cult members, their families, and helping professionals. Through Project Recovery AFF sponsors workshops for former cult members and conferences for a variety of audiences, provides referral services to experts, and offers a range
of publications, videotapes, and other practical resources. Our new publication AFF News offers tips for recovery, resources, timely AFF announcements, and more.
Project Alert encourages public discussion of cults and related issues and educates youth, the general public, professionals, and the media. Through Project Alert, AFF distributes publications, audiovisual aids, and other teaching resources, offers lectures, conferences, and workshops,
and contributes to radio and television programs. AFF develops and distributes preventative-education materials and services to clergy, educators, and experts through its special program, the International Cult Education Program (ICEP).
-
Project Discover conducts, encourages, and contributes to scientific research and writing projects designed to increase the public's and professionals' understanding of how cult victims can be helped and how cults affect individuals, families, and society. Through Project Discover, AFF research associates contribute to key professional books
and journals, including AFF's Cultic Studies Journal and Cult Observer.
