ICSA does NOT
maintain a list of "bad" groups or "cults."
We nonjudgmentally list groups on which
we have information.
Groups listed,
described, or referred to on ICSA's Web sites may be mainstream or
nonmainstream, controversial or noncontroversial, religious or
nonreligious, cult or not cult, harmful or benign.
We encourage
inquirers to consider a variety of opinions, negative and positive,
so that inquirers can make independent and informed judgments
pertinent to their particular concerns.
Views expressed on
our Web sites are those of the document's author(s) and are not
necessarily shared, endorsed, or recommended by ICSA or any of its
directors, staff, or advisors.

Finding Information on Groups – AFF
E-Library*
Group news and professional
articles published since 1984 in AFF's
periodicals are now available as electronic
reprints and will soon be available in our
E-Library, which initially will contain more
than 4,500 articles and three books and
eventually 5,000 to 10,000 news articles, as
well as videos from AFF conferences. Here are
the periodical article lists from which you can
currently request reprints:
Cultic Studies Journal
electronic reprints are available through
our
bookstore
for
_aff_reprint_csj_electronic Cult Observer and
Cultic Studies Review electronic reprints
are available for
_aff_reprints_co_reprint_electronic
Please send us a list of the specific
reprints that interest you (copy and paste the
title, volume, number, and year, if possible),
e-mail, snail mail, fax, or phone in your credit
card information (Visa or MasterCard only), or
send a check (U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank)
payable to
_aff_address. We are not bothering to set these up
in our bookstore because we expect to have the
E-Library functioning before we could complete
such an arduous task. Once the E-Library is
operational, you will be able to access everything on line.
As we develop the E-Library
we are also updating this Web site by creating
or upgrading HTML pages on specific groups.
These pages (which are under development) will
contain, when available, links pertinent to that
specific group, links to relevant articles on
the Web site, and lists of resources. Our
developing group index appears at the bottom of
these remarks.
Subscribers to our
free E-Newsletter will be kept
abreast of E-Library developments.
Caution
AFF provides information to
help family members, helping professionals,
former group members, and others understand the
variety of interacting factors that cause
different people to react differently to even
powerful environments. News stories can provide
useful background information to those seeking
to understand group involvements. However, news
reports don't usually provide a well-rounded or
in-depth understanding of how a particular group
functions, how individual personalities interact
with a group environment, or what a concerned
family member or friend can do to help somebody
involved in a group that arouses concern. We
urge inquirers not to rely solely on newspaper
or magazine articles to evaluate group-related
concerns.
The resources on our
bookstore
and the
study guides on this Web site may
help you better understand how to analyze and
use information effectively in order to address
family or personal difficulties.
Our
conferences
and workshops provide you
with an opportunity to interact with experts,
former group members, and family members. They
can be invaluable learning experiences.
*Please review NOTE at the top of this page. These
introductory remarks are repeated on other group pages for the benefit of those
who may enter the site there. To get to indexes or other material, simply
scroll down past the introduction.
