Ryan Murder Charges Alive

San Francisco U.S. District Judge Ro bert F. Peckham refused to
dismiss murder conspiracy charges against former Peoples Temple member Larry Layton for
his part in the 1978 killing of California congressman Leo J. Ryan. The judge rejected
yesterday a defense argument that Layton’s right to speedy trial had been violated.
